ICYM
INDIAN CATHOLIC YOUTH MOVEMENT (ICYM)
“For you O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord from my youth” Psalm 71:5
Investing in today’s youth is necessary in growing the body of Christ. Teaching young people in the church to grow in their relationship with the Lord prepares them to serve Christ in all they do. As a result, this nurtures the congregation and allows the church to flourish. In our Parish too, the Youth Group is dynamic. It started under the direction of Rev Fr Benedict S Rego on 15th August 1983 with Jeffrey Lobo as its First President .
The motto of ICYM is “To lead, To serve, To shine”. The primary aim is to motivate, form and promote the youth to be active members of the society. Regular meetings are a cornerstone to organization and such meetings led to many activities like conducting visits to social institutions and organizing social activities like the Christmas tree, sports events and also participating in the church and school fund raising activities, cleanliness drive around the Church grounds , conducted inter-parish and intra parish Gadyanth Udkana and Taize Prayer.
The youth represent the parish at the Deanery and Diocesan levels.
