The parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker church, Neermarga united as one family to usher in the New Year. The year-end celebrations commenced with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the eve of 31st December 2021. Rev Fr Anil D Mello, Parish Priest led the Congregation in thanksgiving for God’s Blessings as well as in a Penitential Rite to implore God’s Forgiveness.
This was followed by a Mass celebrating Mary, The Mother of God and to welcome the New Year presided over by Rev Fr Victor Machado, Missionary in the Catholic Diocese of Same-Africa and concelebrated by Rev Fr Anil D Mello, Rev Fr Michael Tauro and Rev Fr Timothy Saldanha. At the end of the Eucharistic celebration The Parish Priest thanked the parishioners and wished them a joyful and blessed new year-2022.
Refreshments sponsored by Unique Caterers were served.
After the Solemn Mass, a short cultural programme was put up by YCS. Dance is the hidden language of the soul and body. The boundless joy of celebrating the New Year was amply visible from the faces of the youth especially when their darling mothers hit the dance floor and got the groove on. The Scintillating dance to the tune of “Hein Manglur Amchem” was choreographed by Mrs. Zeeta Usha Fernandes. Laughter is the elixir of Life. Aston D Souza and Lishon Pereira put up a comedy skit that made the audience laugh and hold their sides. The play depicted the incongruities of life. The YCS then took the gathering to an inspirational theatrical experience leaving them glued to their seats. The dancers ‘beautiful costumes, music and dance steps left the audience mesmerized, followed by thunderous applause.
Aron Welroy Nazareth and Ishel Priyanka D Souza compered the programme and Ashton D Souza, President of YCS – Neermarga Unit welcomed the congregation.
