ICYM Neermarga unit organises Inter-Parish Football and Lagori Tournament – 2017

On account of Golden Jubilee of Neermarga Parish, Inter-Parish Football and Lagori Tournament was organized by ICYM Neermarga on Sunday August 20, 2017 at Neermarga Church Ground.

The Tournament began with a short Prayer Service led by the Parish Priest Fr. Anil D’Mello.  Football tournament was formally inaugurated by Fr Anil D’Mello and Sr Neetha Alva, Superior of Holy Cross Convent, Neermarga inaugurated the Lagori Tournament. Mr. Prakash Pereira, Vice-President of Parish Pastoral Parishad encouraged the participants to play the game without any confusion. Nithesh Rebello compered the inaugural program. Elroy Saldanha, President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Br. Stany, Sujith Sequeira and Sunil Pereira, Animators of ICYM Neermarga unit , Ivan D Souza- President of ICYM Neermarga Unit were present for the inaugural function. As many as 45 teams participated in the Football and Lagori Tournament enthusiastically and with much zeal. Over 1500 crowd visited the venue on the tournament day. Council members of ICYM Mangalore Diocese and City Deanery also visited the Tournament.

At the valedictory ceremony, Fr. Anil D’Mello, Parish Priest of Neermarga ; Fr. Ronald D’Souza, Director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese ; Mr. Prakash Pereira, Vice-President of Parish Pastoral Parishad ; Elroy Saldanha, President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese ; Joel Concesso, Secretary of ICYM Mangalore Diocese ; Raison Ferrao, President of ICYM City Deanery graced the occasion . Fr. Ronald D’Souza congratulated the winners and all the participants and the ever enthusiastic ICYM members who put in all their efforts in making this event a great success.

In the football match Milagres Parish team became victorious at the end of the tournament. Valencia Parish team which played against Milagres in the finals was declared runners up  and in Lagori Tournament Vamanjoor Parish Team won the winners trophy and Derebail Parish Team was runners up.

Menal Pereira compered the Valedictory program. Jyothi Lasrado thanked the sponsors and all those who had helped to make up the Football and Lagori Tournament a great success.
